Defence Housing Australia (DHA) is a Federal Government-owned Business Enterprise (GBE), which manages a $10 billion portfolio of circa 19,000 defence housing properties, and directly owns a property portfolio worth circa $2.9 billion.

Following an independent scoping study into DHA ownership options, the Government announced in 2015 that it would retain ownership of the business, and would pursue other means to improve its operations. In the context of high public sector debt, and the strong precedent set by government property sales in other jurisdictions, the sale or lease of DHA remains a longer-term proposition. DHA reported revenues of $1.3 billion in FY2014/15, and net assets of circa $1.5 billion.
