The Pakuranga to Botany Busway forms part of the Auckland Manukau Eastern Transport Initiative (AMETI). It will enable people to catch a bus from the eastern suburbs and change to a train at Panmure.
The project will create a second section of the South Busway in the centre of Ti Rakau Drive, between Pakuranga and Botany town. Changes across the busway include:
- 12 kilometres of walking and cycling routes on both sides of Ti Rakau Drive
- five kilometres of busway separated from other traffic
- five new bus stops at intersections with traffic lights
- two lanes for the busway over Ti Rakau bridge
- access to Ti Rakau Drive for some properties and side road connections will need to change
- widening footpaths, and
- road widening on Ti Rakau Drive.
