In March 2018, the NSW Government announced a commitment of $450 million to fund Stage 2 of the Nepean Hospital Redevelopment.

Stage 2 will follow on directly from Stage 1, with a focus on supporting the aging population, with the planning process to investigate specialist services such as:

- cardiac and respiratory services;
- medical imaging and nuclear medicine;
- cancer; and
- palliative care and rehabilitation services.

The NSW Government will commence planning of Stage 2 in 2018.
