NorthLink WA is an upgrade to three sections of highway to support increased freight and passenger travel to and from Perth. Currently travel between the State’s north and Perth is serviced by the Great Northern Highway, which has limited scope for further upgrades. NorthLink will create an alternate route with increased capacity.

NorthLink WA will take the pressure off the Great Northern Highway by shifting the majority (around 80%) of heavy vehicles over to the new route.

NorthLink WA will be constructed in three sections:

  •  Southern Section (Stage 1): Guildford Road to Reid Highway;
  •  Central Section (Stage 2): Reid Highway to Ellenbrook; and
  •  Northern Section (Stage 3): Ellenbrook to Muchea.

All sections of work have been awarded, with construction scheduled for completion by 2019.
