Goyder Renewables Zone is a hybrid renewable energy development proposed for the area around Burra, in the Goyder region of South Australia. The Zone includes two separate projects: Goyder North (north of Burra), and Goyder South (south of Burra).
The proposed renewable energy zone is being developed by Neoen over five stages. Goyder South comprises the first three stages and Goyder North comprises the last two stages. Each stage is expected to include:
- a 400 MW wind farm
- a 200 MW solar farm
- a 300 MW battery storage, and
- supporting infrastructure connections.
Neoen intends to construct Goyder South - Stage One first due to its proximity to the Robertstown substation.
The scope for Goyder South Stages Two and Three will depend on the progress of Project EnergyConnect, linking the NSW and SA power grids. A new transmission line will eventually run from Goyder North to Goyder South.
