In November 2018, the NSW Government announced $434 million funding to redevelop Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital.

The 2018-19 Budget allocated $15 million to plan several health projects, including Shoalhaven Hospital. Masterplanning for the project has already been completed.

The redevelopment will likely include:

  • expanded elective surgery facilities
  • more surgical, acute and aged care beds
  • expanded maternity services
  • more operating theatres
  • increased emergency department capacity, and
  • expansion of outpatient and ambulatory care zones.

The NSW Government's 2019-20 Budget indicated that the redevelopment of Shoalhaven Hospital will commence in the three years after FY2019-20. No funding was provided for the project in FY2019-20.
