Sydney Metro West will deliver a new direct, 24 kilometre underground rail connection between the CBDs of Parramatta and Sydney. It will work together with the existing T1 Western Line, which is expected to be overcrowded by the early 2030s, despite ongoing upgrade works.
The alignment will include stops at:
- Sydney Olympic Park
- North Strathfield
- Burwood North
- Five Dock
- The Bays Precinct
- Pyrmont, and
- Sydney CBD.
The Trains, Signalling, Maintenance and Operations (TSMo) package is intended as a Design, Build, Operate and Maintain package. Sydney Metro has noted that they will further assess combining TSMo with Line-wide Work into a single PPP package.

The NSW Government announced it was further exploring options for metro stations at Camellia or Rydalmere, North Burwood or Five Dock, Kings Bay, and Pyrmont.|

The three previous packages for Trains, Signalling, and Maintenance and Operations, have now been combined into a single Trains, Signalling, Maintenance and Operations (TSMo) package. Sydney Metro noted that it is further assessing combining the TSMo package with Line Wide Systems to create a single PPP contract. Due to this, the procurement approach, and procurement time frame for the TSMo package was not confirmed.|
