Sydney Metropolitan Bus Contract 2 - South Western Suburbs

Bus services in the Greater Sydney Metropolitan area are divided into 15 regions, serviced by individual contracts. Historically, these contracts have been operated by a combination of the State Transit Authority and private operators.

Bus Contract Two covers the south western suburbs between Liverpool, Ingleburn and Hoxton Park, with key stations at Bringelly and Glenfield. 

Contract Two will be procured as part of Transport for NSW's upcoming procurement processes for 10 out of the 14 Greater Sydney Metropolitan Bus Contracts. 

The contract will be procured in Tranche Three alongside Contract One and 15. Transport for NSW have indicated that Contract Two can be procured in a joint bid with Contract 15.

PROJECT HISTORY

Oct 2019 The NSW Government announced it will competitively tender 13 of the 14 Sydney metropolitan bus contracts between 2020 and 2023. This follows the award of Bus Region Six in 2018 to Transit Systems. The NSW Government also announced it will be replacing Sydney's diesel bus fleet with electric vehicles.
Dec 2019 An industry briefing detailed the procurement timeline for the contracts to be procured between 2020 and 2023.
Jul 2021 An industry briefing was held, confirming the procurement structure and schedule of the 10 upcoming contracts.
Jul 2022 Transport for NSW issued a Request for Tenders (RFTs) for the operation of Sydney Metropolitan Bus Contracts for region two. Contracts Two and 15 can be consolidated in a single bid. RFTs close on 30 September.
