In October 2019 the NSW Government announced it will competitively tender 13 of the 14 Sydney metropolitan bus contracts over the coming three years.
Among these 13 contracts, the NSW Government will be competitively tendering Bus Region 4, which is currently operated by Hillsbus. Region 4 covers the Hills district area, which includes Paramatta, Pennant Hills, Castle Hill and Rouse Hills. Other principal suburbs include Dural, Blacktown and Baulkham Hills.
An industry briefing on 10 October, confirmed that contract procurement is expected to commence in late 2020. Contract award is scheduled for early 2023, with the formal timeline to be confirmed following market sounding.
