The New Zealand Government has announced the establishment of three 'Science and Innovation Hubs' across Wellington in Budget 2023-24. Each of the three hubs will have a different purpose and membership. The focus and location of the three hubs are:
- National Centre for Oceans, Climate and Hazards Research, to be located in Greta Point
- Health and Wellbeing Corridor including Pandemic Research and Response Institute, to be based between Kelburn, Mount Cook and Newtown, and
- Research, Innovation and Technology Park, to be the focus of a research park in Gracefield, Lower Hutt.
