Project Summary

The South Australian Government will tender for the provision of train services in metropolitan Adelaide.

The Adelaide Metro rail network operates across 130 kilometres of track comprising four major lines and two spur lines.

The Government will enter into a performance-based franchise contract for the operation of the train services. Under this model the Government will:

  • retain ownership of rail assets,
  • set requirements for levels of services,
  • set fare prices, and
  • retain the revenue
