Birdwood Energy have proposed the development of a 400 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), to be located 10 kilometers south-east of Wodonga, Victoria. The scope of the project includes:

a 400 MW/1,800 MWh BESS

substation and switching infrastructure

operations and maintenance facilities

228-metre overhead powerline connection to Wodonga Terminal Station, and

enabling infrastructure

PROJECT HISTORY
| Feb 2025 | The Project was granted development approval by the Victorian Minister for Planning via the Victorian Government's Development Facilitation Program. |
| Sep 2026 | The Victorian State Electricity Commission (SEC) announced an investment of up to $43 million for a minority stake in the project. Alongside this, the SEC acquired a 15-year offtake agreement for 50 per cent of the project's capacity to support Victorian Government and commercial energy retail contracts. |
