Renewable Energy Systems Australia have proposed the 440 megawatt Barneys Reef Wind Farm, located approximately 12 kilometres north of Gulgong. Key components of the project include:
- up to 63 turbines with a tip hight of approximately 280 metres
- two new substations and a transmission connection to the NEM, and
- a 1,764 megawatt hour battery energy storage system.
