Belah BESS

The Belah Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) would be a 400 MW / 1,600 MW  BESS on a 15-hectare site near the intersection of Avenue Road and the Kogan-Condamine Highway, approximately 19 kilometres south of Chinchilla in Queensland's Western Downs region.

Supporting infrastructure will include inverters, transformers, control systems, access roads, and a new underground high-voltage transmission line connecting to Powerlink’s Orana Substation.

PROJECT HISTORY

Oct 2025 The project was determined to be a non-controlled action under the EPBC Act by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
Oct 2025 A Development Application was lodged with Western Downs Regional Council and with the Queensland Government through the State Assessment and Referral Agency.
