The Hunter Water Corporation has proposed the construction a new desalination plant to be located in Belmont, in the Lower Hunter Region.
The deslination plant would have the capacity to produce 30 million litres of drinking water per day - appoximately 15 per cent of the region's average daily water demand.
The scope of the project will include:
- seawater intakes
- water treament process plant
- brine disposal system
- power supply, and
- ancillary facilities.
