Berrigan BESS

The Berrigan BESS is a proposed Battery Energy Storage System with a capacity of 400 megawatts / 1.6 gigawatt hours. The project is located 140 kilometres west of Albury, in the NSW South-West Renewable Energy Zone. The project will connect to Transgrid's existing Finley Substation.

The project is proposed by Syncline.

PROJECT HISTORY

Nov 2024 Syncline submitted a Scoping Report to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment, requesting the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs). The Scoping Report set out the proposed projects scope, comprising a 400 MW / 1,600 MWh battery.
Dec 2024 The NSW Government issued the SEARs for the project.
