Booroolong Wind Farm

The Booroolong Wind Farm, located near Armidale within the New England Renewable Energy Zone, is a proposed 426 MW wind farm to be developed by Squadron Energy.

The full scope of the project includes:

  • Up to 71 wind turbines with a generating capacity of 426MW
  • a 150 MW/600 MW/h Battery Energy Storage System
  • 22 km of high-voltage transmission lines
  • up to 3 substations, and 
  • ancillery infrastructure

Jun 2022 The project was announced by CWP Renewables.
Dec 2022 The project transferred to Squadron energy following their acquisition of CWP Renewables.
Aug 2025 A scoping report and request for SEARs were submitted to the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
Sep 2025 The NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure issued SEARs for the project
