The Bribie Island Bridge Upgrade involves the duplication of the existing Bridie. The preferred option comprises the delivery of a new bridge with two eastbound traffic lanes and active transport, with the existing bridge to provide two westbound traffic lanes.
The scope of works would deliver:
- a new 17.7-metre wide bridge, located north of the existing bridge
- two 3.5-metre eastbound lanes on the new bridge
- a new 5.5-metre segregated pathway on the new bridge
- two westbound traffic lanes on the existing bridge
- separation of carriageways on the new/existing bridges
- segregated active transport pathway on new bridge, and
- off-road shared paths on eastern and western approaches connect the bridge to existing networks.

Apr 2025 | The Queensland Government released the Summary Business Case, following the completion of the business case in December 2024. The Summary confirmed the preferred option to deliver a second bridge for eastbound traffic and active transport, and using the existing bridge for westbound traffic. The Summary also confirmed the preferred option's total estimated cost of $757 million. |
