Brisbane Metro - Inner-City Infrastructure Works

The Brisbane Metro will see the adoption of a high frequency rapid transit transport system along 21 kilometres of existing busway between the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) and Eight Mile Plains. It includes 18 stations, including 11 interchange stations, two of which will link to the State Government's planned Cross River Rail.

The Inner-City Infrastructure works comprises the major civil construction components of the project. These include:

  • a new underground Cultural Centre station
  • a new North Quay/Adelaide Street Tunnel, running from the Victoria Bridge to King George Square station, and
  • station works at Roma Street, King George Square, South Bank and Mater Hill.

Procuring Agency: Brisbane City Council.
Tenderers (EOI/ROI): Five companies submitted EOI's: Brisbane Move, (comprising ACCIONA and Arup), Lendlease and WSP, Laing O'Rourke, AECOM and Aurecon, METRO4BNE (comprising CPB Contractors, Vinci Construction, Seymour Whyte and SMEC), and TransForm BNE (comprising McConnel Dowell, John Holland and GHD).
Shortlist: Brisbane Move, METRO4BNE and TransForm BNE.
Successful Tenderer: Brisbane Move, comprising ACCIONA and Arup.

PROJECT HISTORY

Feb 2018 Brisbane City Council announced that the Inner-City Infrastructure Works would be delivered through a Collaborative Partnership. The Collaborative Partnership contract model is an alliance style model which includes fixed price and risk sharing elements.
Jul 2018 Expressions of Interest opened for the Collaborative Partnership package.
Jul 2018 Brisbane City Council announced that the Collaborative Partnership would also procure the Suburban Infrastructure Works and Systems Design and Delivery components of the project.
Oct 2018 Brisbane City Council announced five consortia had submitted EOIs, indicating all would progress to the Request for Proposal (RFP) phase.
Dec 2018 Brisbane City Council shortlisted Brisbane Move, METRO4BNE and TransForm BNE to progress to the Early Contractor Involvement stage of the tender.
Jun 2020 Brisbane Move, comprising ACCIONA and Arup were announced as preferred tenderers to design and construct the Inner-City Infrastructure Works, Suburban Infrastructure Works, and Systems Design and Delivery components.
Oct 2020 Brisbane Move was awarded the contract to design and construct the Inner-City Infrastructure Works, Suburban Infrastructure Works, and Systems Design and Delivery components.
