Brisbane Stadium

The Brisbane Stadium is a proposed multi-purpose stadium to be located at Victoria Park, in central Brisbane.

The new stadium will have a permanent capacity of 63,000 and is expected to host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic opening and closing ceremonies.

PROJECT HISTORY

Mar 2025 The Queensland Government announced a new stadium would be delivered at Victoria Park as part of the 2032 Delivery Plan.
Jul 2025 An updated intergovernmental funding agreement between the Queensland and Federal governments was announced. The agreement reaffirms previous federal government committments, including a total federal funding envelope of $3.4 billion.
Jul 2025 The Queensland Government opened Expressions of Interest to develop a Victoria Park precinct masterplan. The masterplan will inform the technical requirements for the Brisbane Stadium and transport infrastructure connections.
Aug 2025 Registrations of Interest for the Design and Construction of the project opened.
Sep 2025 The Queensland Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority announced Expressions of Interest for the project's Principal Architects opened.
Oct 2025 The Invitation for Prequalification (IFP) for the Brisbane Stadium Delivery opened.
Dec 2025 The Queensland Government appointed the Unite32 consortium, comprising Laing O’Rourke and AECOM, as Delivery Partner for the planning and delivery of 17 Olympic and Paralympic venues.
Jan 2026 The GIICA appointed COX, Hassell and Azusa Sekkei as Principal Architects
Mar 2026 The Queensland Government announced that early preparatory works will commence from June, and confirmed design details such as the field size, field orientation and the stadium’s location within Victoria Park.
Apr 2026 The GIICA announced it had shortlisted two bidders to enter into an Early Contractor Involvement phase for the project. Shortlisted bidders include a Built and SACYR Joint Venture; and a John Holland and BESIX Watpac Joint Venture. The GIICA also confirmed the project's expected construction commencement date as 2027.
