The Bungama Battery, being developed by Risen Energy, is a proposed energy storage system which comprises the development of a 250-megawatt (MW) / 500-megawatt hour (MWh) facility near Port Pirie in South Australia.
The project is being delivered in two stages.
- Stage One comprises a 150 MW / 300 MWh capacity, and
- Stage Two comprises a 100 MW / 200 MWh capacity.
The project will include grid forming inverter technology with a new integration system. The development is to be located adjacent to the existing 275 kilovolt Bungama Substation.
