Junction Rivers Wind Farm

The Junction Rivers Wind Farm (formally Burrawong Wind Farm), proposed by Windlab Developments, is a 750MW wind generation facility to be located 15km south of Balranald. The scope of the project includes 107 wind turbines and other ancillary infrastructure required for delivery. It may include a Battery Energy Storage System of up to approximately 250 MW / 500 megawatt-hours (MWh). The wind farm will connect to either Project EnergyConnect’s 330-kilovolt (kV) transmission line or Transgrid’s 220 kV transmission line.

The proposed site is located within NSW's South-West Renewable Energy Zone.

PROJECT HISTORY

Nov 2021 Windlab Developments submitted the scoping report to the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment and requested the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements for the project.
Dec 2021 The NSW Department of Planning and Environment issued the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) for the project.
Dec 2023 The NSW Government issued a six month extension to the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements, and approved the name change of the project from Burrawong Wind Farm to Junction Rivers Wind Farm.
