Cairns Western Arterial Road

The project will duplicate sections of Cairns Western Arterial Road between Redlynch Connector Road and Captain Cook Highway including duplication of the rail overpass at Redlynch and a new bridge over the Baron River at Kamerunga. The project also includes the installation of new paths and upgrading existing paths for pedestrians and cyclists.

The proejct will be delivered in three stages:

  • Stage One: Lake Placid Road to the Captain Cook Highway
  • Stage Two: Redlynch Connector Road to Harley Street, and
  • Stage Three: Harley Street to Lake Placid Road.

PROJECT HISTORY

May 2021 The Federal Government allocated $240 million to the project in its FY2021-22 Budget.
Jun 2021 The Queensland Government allocated $60 million to the project in the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program 2021-22 to 2024-25.
Feb 2022 The Federal Government announced the preferred option for the project, which will be delivered in three stages.
