Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment

The Cessnock Hospital Redevelopment project will deliver additional facilities to the existing hospital in Cessnock, NSW. 

The project's scope of works includes:

  • a new two-level acute services building
  • a new and expanded emergency department
  • two new inpatient units
  • a new medical imaging service
  • improvements to connections to existing buildings, and
  • an operating theatre and procedure room

PROJECT HISTORY

Jun 2022 The 2022-23 NSW Budget announced the project, with a total estimated cost of $111 million, and estimated completion date of 2027. The Budget allocated $500,000 in FY2022-23.
Oct 2022 The NSW Government appointed a team to lead the development and design of the project. Fitzpatrick + Partners was appointed Architect, CBRE as the Project Managers and Genus Advisory as the Cost Managers. CBRE subsequently combined its project management team with its subsidiary, Turner & Townsend.
Apr 2024 The NSW Government released concept designs for the project for community consultation.
Jun 2024 The 2024-25 NSW Budget revealed the project's total estimated cost had increased to $138 million, up from $111 million. The Budget allocated $6 million to the project in FY2024-25.
Oct 2024 The NSW Government has commenced a Request for Tender process for a Main Works Contractor to deliver the project.
Oct 2024 The NSW Government released a schematic design for the project.
May 2025 The NSW Government awarded Hansen Yuncken the main works contract.
