Circular Quay Renewal

The NSW Government has announced a redevelopment of Circular Quay and surrounds. An extended scope will be published pending final design plans.

The proposed project includes:

  • replacement of the existing wharves, including Wharf 1, with new accessible wharves
  • replacement and widening of the southern promenade
  • upgrades to Circular Quay Station, including new escalators and lifts
  • replacement of operational facilities, including new staff amenities
  • new built form to the east and west of the existing station
  • renewal of First Fleet Park, and
  • new and upgraded public amenities including provision for retail uses.

Successful Tenderer: CQC Partners, a consortium comprising Capella Capital, Lendlease Construction, and BESIX Westpac, are the Planning and Design Partner to collaborate with Transport for NSW.

PROJECT HISTORY

Dec 2022 CQC Partners, a consortium comprising Lendlease, Capella Capital, and BESIX Watpac, have been announced as the design and planning partners for the project.
Jun 2023 Transport for NSW submitted a Scoping Report to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment, requesting the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements for the project.
Sep 2023 The NSW Government allocated $335 million over the four years toward planning for the project in the 2023-24 NSW Budget.
Dec 2023 The NSW Government issued the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements for the project.
