Deer Park Battery

The Deer Park Battery is a 300-megawatt (MW) grid-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Victoria. The battery will connect to the National Electricity Market (NEM) through the Deer Park Energy Hub which houses the 220/66 kilovolt (kV) Deer Park Terminal Station that supplies electricity to metropolitan Melbourne and is located 24 kilometres from the CBD.

PROJECT HISTORY

Jul 2021 Lumea commenced a selective Expression of Interest (EOI) process for the project. The EOI process will confirm market interest and determine the optimal size and duration of the battery. It will also inform whether there are further opportunities to supply system reliability services to the grid.
