Spark Infrastructure have proposed a 2.5-gigawatt hybrid wind, solar and battery energy hub within NSW's South-West Renewable Energy Zone and along the route of the Project EnergyConnect interconnector between NSW and SA. The project would be delivered in two stages.
Stage One has an estimated total cost of $1.8 billion and includes:
- a one-gigawatt solar farm, and
- a 300 megawatt / 1,200-megawatt hour Battery Energy Storage System.
Stage Two has an estimated total cost of $2.5 billion and includes a 1.5-gigawatt wind farm.
The proposed location of the hub is in the Murrumbidgee council area halfway between Coleambally and Jerilderie on the route of the Project EnergyConect Interconnector. The project also has proximity to the HumeLink and Victoria to NSW- West interconnectors.
