Edith Cowan University are leading development of a Creative Industries, Business and Technology Campus in Perth's CBD. The new City Campus on two sites either side of the Karak Walk and adjacent to Yagan Square, between the Perth CBD and Northbridge.
The campus will house the following schools, programs and initiatives:
- Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts
- Founding Pianos
- Arts, Design and Communications
- WA Screen Academy
- Broadcasting
- Kurongkurl Katitjin - ECU's Centre for Indigenous Australian Education and Research
- Business and Law, and
- Technology and Cyber Security.
Facilities contained in the building include:
- five Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts theatres
- digital smart lab
- moot court
- motion capture film studio
- spatial sound lab
- design studios and galleries
- film and television production studios, and
- radio and television broadcast studios.

Sep 2020 | Perth City Deal announced - a key component of it being a $695 million investment by the Commonwealth Government, WA Government and Edith Cowan University to develop a new campus in Perth CBD. |
Jun 2021 | Related contracts awarded such as design contract, engineering contract (for Civil, Structural and Building Services), acoustic engineering, town planning and quantity surveying. |
Aug 2021 | Concept designs for the city Campus were released. The new campus will comprise an 11-storey building and be developed over two sites. A Development Application for the project is expected to be lodged with DevelopmentWA in late-August, with early works expected to commence in late 2021. |
Sep 2021 | A Request for Tender (RFT) process opened for an Early Works Stage One Contractor to undertake preliminary early works for the project. |
Nov 2021 | Edith Cowan University opened RFTs for a Head Contractor to deliver Early Contractor Involvement, Early Works and Main Works, closing on 3 December. The procurement for the Early Works contract announced in September 2021 was halted and combined with the Head Contractor procurement process. |
Mar 2022 | The contract for the project's construction was awarded to Multiplex. Additionally, funding increases of $60 million from ECU and $49 million each from the Federal and Western Australian Governments were announced. |
Feb 2023 | Major works commenced on the project, due to be completed in late 2025. |
