Emu Park Energy Hub

The proposed Emu Park Energy Hub includes a solar farm and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project located in Ellangowan within Richmond Valley.

The full scope of works includes:

  • a 350-megawatt (MW) solar farm
  • a 200-MW / 800-megawatt hour BESS
  • an onsite substation
  • an onsite switching station
  • a connection to TransGrid's existing 330-kilovolt transmission line, and
  • ancillary infrastructure.

Dec 2025 Metlen Energy and Metals submitted a Scoping Report to the NSW Government, requesting the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) for the project.
Feb 2026 The NSW Government issued the SEARs for the project.
