The Eyre Peninsula Desalination Plant is a proposed desalination plan located near Billy Lights Point, South Australia.
The project includes construction of a reverse osmosis seawater desalination plant and supporting infrastructure. The facility will have an annual capacity of 5.3 gigalitres, and will service the water vulnerable communities on the Eyre Peninsula.

Mar 2023 | The South Australian Government accepted the recommendation from SA Water to select Billy Lights Point as the preferred site for the Eyre Peninsula Desalination Plant. |
May 2023 | SA Water commenced an Expressions of Interest process for Design and Early Contractor Involvement. |
Jun 2023 | The 2023-24 SA Budget revealed a cost increase for the project to $330 million, and pushed back the estimated completion date to March 2026. |
Nov 2023 | SA Water announced ACCIONA had been awarded the ECI contract for the delivery of the Eyre Peninsula Desalination Project. |
Apr 2024 | Geotechnical investigation work commenced at the site to assist in the planning of construction. A construction completion estimate of mid-2026 was also announced. |
