Geraldton Port Maximisation Project (PMaxP)

The Geraldton Port Maximisation Project (PMaxP) is an infrastructure endeavour to expand the capacity of the Geraldton Port to accommodate for a forecasted rise in trade. The project will involve:

  • demolition and reconstruction of the berth, half with associated ship loading and material handling infrastructure;
  • the removal of unused legacy assets which currently inhibit port expansion opportunities;
  • 2 Truck unloaders;
  • the relocation of the tug boat harbour;
  • the relocation of pilot boats and associated land based workshop/offices;
  • rationalisation of port infrastructure to reduce operational maintenance costs;  and
  • other associated infrastructure, such as road works, additional vessels, operations precinct, maintenance facilities and shore tension units.

May 2022 The WA State Government announced major funding approval of $332 million for the project.
Oct 2022 BG&E Resources was awarded the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management tender for the project.
