The Geraldton Port Maximisation Project (PMaxP) is an infrastructure endeavour to expand the capacity of the Geraldton Port to accommodate for a forecasted rise in trade. The project will involve:
- demolition and reconstruction of the berth, half with associated ship loading and material handling infrastructure
- the removal of unused legacy assets which currently inhibit port expansion opportunities
- two truck unloaders
- the relocation of the tug boat harbour
- the relocation of pilot boats and associated land based workshop/offices
- rationalisation of port infrastructure to reduce operational maintenance costs, and
- other associated infrastructure, such as road works, additional vessels, operations precinct, maintenance facilities and shore tension units.

PROJECT HISTORY
May 2022 | The WA State Government announced major funding approval of $332 million for the project. |
Oct 2022 | BG&E Resources was awarded the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management tender for the project. |
Aug 2024 | The project was submitted to the Western Australian EPA for referral. |
Sep 2024 | The Western Australian EPA confirmed that the project would require environmental assessment. |
