Grafton Base Hospital Redevelopment

Announced

The NSW Government has proposed the Grafton Base Hospital Redevelopment in Grafton, on the NSW North Coast.

The scope of works includes:

  • a new three-storey hospital building
  • an expanded emergency department
  • emergency short stay facilities
  • an inpatient unit
  • an expanded day surgery and operating suite with two additional theatres
  • medical imaging, including MRI equipment, and
  • additional space to relocated maternity services in the future.

PROJECT HISTORY

Jun 2022 The 2022-23 NSW Budget announced the project, with a total estimated cost of $264 million and estimated completion date of 2030. The Budget allocated $1 million toward planning in FY2022-23.
Aug 2022 The NSW Government appointed a project team to oversee the design of the Grafton Base Hospital Redevelopment. Mace Projects was appointed Project Manager, Woods Bagot & HDR was appointed Architect, and Altus Group was appointed Cost Manager.
Jun 2024 The 2024-25 NSW Budget allocated $222 million to the project over the next four years, including $15 million in FY2024-25
Aug 2024 The NSW Government released concept designs for the project for community consultation.
