Great Eastern Offshore Wind

The Great Eastern Offshore Wind Farm is a proposed offshore wind project with up to 2.5 gigawatts of electricity generation capacity. It has been proposed for the Gippsland Offshore Wind Zone off the coast of Victoria.

It is proposed to be located 22 kilometres off the Wellington Shire coast to the east of Wilsons Promontory.

PROJECT HISTORY

Dec 2022 The Federal Government declares a 15,000 square kilometre area off Gippsland, Victoria as an offshore wind area.
May 2024 The Federal Government announces it has granted six feasability licences to projects for the Gippsland Offshore Wind Zone and intends to grant another six, including to Great Eastern Offshore Wind, subject to First Nations consultation.
Jul 2024 Corio Generation was granted a feasibility licence for the Gippsland Offshore Wind Zone for the project. The licence allows proponents to undertake feasibility works to progress to a commercial licence.
