The Gippsland Offshore Wind Transmission Project will support the connection of offshore wind infrastructure in the Gippsland Offshore Wind Zone to the mainland grid. The project will run from a new connection hub on the mainland near the Gippsland coast, which will service offshore wind farm connections, to a grid connection point near Loy Yang Power Station.
The proposed project comprises the development, construction and operation of approximately:
- 55 kilometres of 500-kilovolt transmission lines
- an onshore connection hub, including high-voltage substation plant and equipment, and
- a grid connection substation near the Loy Yang Power Station.
The project was formerly known as the Greater Gippsland Transmission Project.
