The Gundary Solar Farm, proposed by Lightsource BP, is a 400-megawatt (MW) solar generation project and 555-MW / 1,570-megawatt hour (MWh) battery. The project is expected to be located across 708 hectares of land in Gundary, NSW.
The scope of the works includes:
- a 400-MW solar farm comprising approximately 740 solar panels
- a 555-MW / 1,570-MWh Battery Energy Storage System
- an onsite substation
- a system of inverters and voltage step-up transformers, and
- one switchyard.

Sep 2022 | Lightsource BP submitted a Scoping Report and made a request for the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs) to the NSW Government. The proposed project includes a 400-megawatt (MW) solar farm and 200- to 400-MW / 400- to 800-MWh battery. |
Nov 2022 | The NSW Department of Planning and Environment issued the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements for the project. |
Nov 2024 | The Environmental Impact Statement for the project was placed on public exhibition, closing on 12 December. Additionally, the EIS provided an updated construction cost of $650 million, and updated construction commencement date of Q1 2026. The EIS also provided an updated battery capacity of 555 megawatts / 1,570 megawatt hours. |
