Woodside has proposed to build H2Perth – a $1 billion domestic and export-scale hydrogen and ammonia production facility in the Kwinana Strategic Industrial Area and Rockingham Industrial Zone in the southern metropolitan region of Perth.
The Government of Western Australia is supporting development of the project, with agreement to lease 130 hectares of vacant industrial State land in Kwinana for the project. Woodside intends to fully fund the construction and operation of the project.
The facility is expected to produce up to 1,500 tonnes per day of hydrogen for export in the form of ammonia and liquid hydrogen. The electrolysis component of H2Perth will have an initial capacity of 250 megawatts. Over time, the facility is expected to operate electrolysers with more than three gigawatts of total capacity.
