The Herne Bay Collector project will connect to the Central Interceptor project and direct wastewater and stormwater to the MÄngere Wastewater Treatment Plant. The project’s scope of works comprises:
- a 2.1-metre diameter, 1.7-kilometre wastewater tunnel, delivered at a depth between nine and 22 metres
- seven main shafts
- three intermediate shafts to connect to existing network infrastructure
- overflow connections to existing engineered overflow points, and
- a control chamber at Pt Erin Park, which will connect the Herne Bay Collector into the Central Interceptor.
