Hexham Wind Farm

The Hexham Wind Farm is a proposed 686-megawatt wind farm located near Hexham, Victoria. The project includes:

  • an onsite connection to the existing overhead 500-kilovolt transmission powerline via a new terminal station
  • installation of overhead powerlines and underground electrical cabling
  • a battery energy storage facility (no indicative size has been announced), and
  • supporting infrastructure.

PROJECT HISTORY

Apr 2022 The Victorian Planning Minister declared than an Environmental Effects Statement would be required for the project.
May 2023 Wind Prospect submitted the Environmental Effects Statement with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.
Mar 2025 The project was included in the Federal Government's inaugural Renewable Energy Priority List. The Priority List aims to provide coordinated support through Federal, state and territory regulatory and environmental approval processes on a case-by-case basis and provide a 'faster to yes, faster to no' approach to regulatory approvals.
