Hillmorton Acute Mental Health Unit

The Hillmorton Acute Mental Health Unit Redevelopment is the first tranche in the broader Hillmorton Campus Redevelopment, and forms part of Health New Zealand's Mental Health Infrastructure programme.

The scope of the project includes delivery of a new 80 bed acute mental health facility and the relocation of specialist mental health facilities from the Princess Margaret Hospital.

PROJECT HISTORY

Nov 2022 The New Zealand Government announced final approval had been granted to the project, and confirmed $130 million in funding had been allocated to the project.
Dec 2022 Beca was awarded the contract for design consultancy services for the project.
Feb 2025 The main works contract was awarded to Naylor Love. The scope of the contract includes demolition and relocation of on-site buildings, construction of an 80-bed acute facility, and related works.
Mar 2025 Main Works Construction commenced on the project.
