The Illawarra Offshore Wind Farm, proposed by Oceanex, is a declared offshore wind generation project with up to 2.9 gigawatt capacity. The project is to be located 20 kilometres off the Wollongong and Port Kembla coast in NSW between Wombarra and Kiama.
It will involve the use of 15 megawatt turbines and floating foundation technology.

PROJECT HISTORY
Jun 2024 | The Federal Government has declared an area in the Pacific Ocean off the Illawarra region of NSW between Wombarra and Kiama where offshore renewable energy, such as offshore wind, can be developed. The declared area has the potential to generate up to 2.9 gigawatts of renewable wind energy. Applications for a feasibility licence were opened from 17 June to 15 August 2024. |
