Kaiwaikawe Wind Farm

The proposed Kaiwaikawe Wind Farm, located 12 kilometres north-west of Dargaville and three kilometres inland from the Tasman Sea, will include 12 wind turbines and have a capacity of up to 77 megawatts.

The wind farm will connect to Northpower's substation near Dargaville, and then on to the national grid at Maungatapere.

The project is being developed by Mercury. Tararua Wind Power Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of Mercury will own and operate the wind farm once operational.

PROJECT HISTORY

Jan 2025 Mercury announced that they had commenced site mobilisation and construction on the project.
Feb 2025 Mercury announced the successful contractors for the project.
