Kemps Creek Data Centre

Microsoft is proposing the construction of a 190-megawatt data centre at Kemps Creek in Sydney's West. 

The project scope includes: 

  • two two-storey data buildings covering 60 data halls 
  • utility provisions including a substation, diesel fuel storage tanks and backup generators
  • ancillary opffice space
  • 120 car spaces, and 
  • associated internal roads.

PROJECT HISTORY

Sep 2020 The project made a SEARs request.
Nov 2020 The NSW Government issued the SEARs for the project
Nov 2021 The projects State Significant Development application and Environmental Impacts Statement was placed on public exhibition, closing 16 December.
Jun 2023 Microsoft receives council approval for data centre. Construction expected to begin in coming months.
Sep 2023 Construction commenced on the project.
