Kentbruck Green Power Farm

The Kentbruck Green Power Hub is a proposed wind farm and battery energy storage facility located near Mount Richmond, South-West Victoria. 

The scope of the project includes a 600-megawatt wind farm, comprising:

  • delivery of up to 105 wind turbines
  • a battery facility, and
  • new terminal substations and transmission lines.

The Federal Government will provide revenue underwriting for the project through a Capacity Investment Scheme Agreement.

PROJECT HISTORY

Jul 2019 The project was referred to the Victorian Minister for planning for an Environmental Effects Statement (EES).
Dec 2024 Neoen agreed to transfer ownership of its Victorian portfolio to asset management company HMC Capital, as required by the ACCC. The transaction is valued at $950 million, and includes nine renewable energy projects across Victoria.
Dec 2024 The project was selected as part of the Federal Government's first Capacity Investment Scheme Tender Round. The Federal Government will provide revenue underwriting for the project through a Capacity Investment Scheme Agreement. The project's scope was also reduced from 900 megawatts to 600 megawatts.
Jan 2025 The project's Environmental Effects Statement was placed on public exhibition, closing 31 March.
Jan 2026 The Victorian Government approved the project's development following the Environmental Effects Statement process. The approval also confirmed the number of turbines in the project has decreased from 157 to 105, however, the generation capacity remains as 600 MW.
