Koorakee Energy Park

The Koorakee Energy Park is a wind and solar generation project proposed by Squadron Energy. The project is to be located in NSW near the state border, approximately 70 kilometres south-east from Mildura, Victoria. 

The scope of the project includes:

  • a one-gigawatt (GW) wind farm, with approximately 167 turbines 
  • a one-GW solar farm, with approximately 3,100 hectares of photovolatic panels
  • a one-GW / 12-GWh battery energy storage system
  • up to five substations
  • underground and overhead powerlines to connect the generation infrasturcture to substations and transmission connections, and 
  • ancillary infrasturtcure. 

PROJECT HISTORY

May 2024 A scoping report was published for the project, alongside a request for the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs).
May 2024 The project was issued the Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements (SEARs).
Dec 2024 The SEARs for the project were amended to reflect the introduction of the NSW Government's Renewable Energy Planning Framework, published in November.
