Lauriston Solar Farm is a 63-megawatt solar farm located in Lauriston on the Canterbury Plains, 60 kilometres southwest of Christchurch.

The solar farm will consist of approximately 89,880 solar panels across the 90-hectare site.

Equity Finance: Genesis
Debt Finance: Bank of New Zealand and MUFG Bank

The development will be project financed by the Bank of New Zealand and MUFG Bank, funding approximately 60 per cent of total project costs, with Genesis providing approximately NZ$13 million - or 40 per cent - in equity.

PROJECT HISTORY

Feb 2023 Genesis Energy and FRV Australia announced that they had secured a fully consented, large scale solar site near Lauriston on the Canterbury Plains for use for the solar farm.
Dec 2023 Genesis Energy confirmed that financial close had been achieved for the Lauriston Solar Farm.
Apr 2024 Genesis Energy announced that construction has commenced on the Lauriston Solar Farm.
