The Limondale BESS, developed by RWE, is a 50 MW/400 MWh battery energy storage system, located adjacent to the Limondale Solar Farm near Balranald, NSW. The scope of the project includes delivery of 144 Tesla megapack batteries and connecting infrastructure.
The project is located within the South-West Renewable Energy Zone.

| Mar 2022 | RWE submitted a modification report for the development of the BESS project to the NSW Department of Planning. |
| Oct 2022 | The NSW Department of Planning and Environment granted development approval for the modification. |
| May 2023 | The BESS project was awarded a long-duration storage Long-Term Energy Service Agreement by AEMO Services under the inaugural tender round for new generation and long-duration storage electricity infrastructure in New South Wales. The project remains subject to normal planning approval processes. |
| May 2024 | RWE announced it had reached final investment decision to build the BESS component of the project, located next to the Limondale Solar Farm, and announced its expected construction dates, commencing in late-2024 and completing in late-2025. Beon Energy Solutions also announced it had been awarded the engineering procurement and construction contract, with Tesla to supply the battery components. |
