Logan Hospital Expansion

As part of its Building Better Hospitals program, the Queensland Government is investing $460.9 million into expanding Logan Hospital. This investment will support growing demand for one of South East Queensland's fastest growing areas. The Logan Local Government area population is forecast to grow by 23.3 per cent between 2016 and 2026.

The project will include expansion of Building Three and targeted refurbishment of other locations. It will also involve construction of new wings to accommodate an additional 206 beds, 28 recovery spaces, and two endoscopy suites. The Logan Hospital maternity ward will also be expanded, adding an additional six inpatient beds, five delivery rooms, and 10 cots.

PROJECT HISTORY

Jun 2019 In its 2019-20 Budget the Queensland Government allocated $7.5 million for FY2019-20 and $30 million in FY2020-21 towards the project. The remaining funding will be spent between FY2021-22 and FY2022-23.
Jun 2020 The Queensland Government released the Invitation to Offer (ITO) to companies shortlisted during the expression of interest process.
Nov 2020 In its 2020-21 Budget, the Queensland Government allocated $20 million towards the project for FY2020-21.
Jun 2021 In its 2021-22 Budget, the Queensland Government allocated $80 million to the project for FY2021-22.

The Logan Hospital Expansion Stage 2 will add an additional 112 beds to the existing facility.

The expansion will include a new, seven-storey building between Block 3 the new car park developed during Stage 1.

This project is part of Queensland's Capacity Expansion Program.

Procurement note:

The project is being procured as a part of the Queensland Government's Capacity Expansion Project (CEP). The CEP will deliver $9.8 billion worth of new and upgraded hospitals across 15 separate projects. CEP projects are being procured using a Pre-Qualified Panel model. Under the model, interested parties submit EOIs outlinining the list of projects or ‘bundles of projects’ they wish to participate in. Contractors successfully appointed to the panel will then be selected to participate in a Request for Tenders (RFT) phase for particular projects, or packages of projects.

Oct 2022 Funding was confirmed for the project and the Queensland Government called for Expressions of Interest (EOIs) to join a prequalified panel to deliver Capacity Expansion Program projects.
