Lotus Creek Wind Farm

The Lotus Creek Wind Farm is a proposed 285-megawatt wind farm located 20 kilometres west of St Lawrence in central Queensland. The project, which includes 46 turbines, will also involve the construction of a new substation to connect it to the exisitng 275,000 volt powerlines.

The project is owned by CS Energy, a Queensland Government-owned corporation.

Queensland Government

The Queensland Government has contributed $624 million from the Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Jobs Fund and $300 million from coal royalties announced in the 2023-24 Budget.

Successful Tenderer: Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, Vestas and Zenviron.
Procurement note:

The project was proposed by Ark Energy. Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners acquired the project in December 2022. CS Energy acquired the project from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners in August 2024.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners will oversee construction of the project.

In partnership Vestas and Zenviron will deliver the balance-of-plant civil and electrical works along with the workers’ accommodation facility.

Vestas will also supply and install 46 wind turbines with a long-term service and maintenance agreement.

PROJECT HISTORY

Aug 2021 The Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment ruled the project a "controlled action", meaning it will require assessment and approval before it proceeds.
May 2022 The Queensland Government granted development consent to the project.
Oct 2022 The project was granted EBPC approvals.
Dec 2022 Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners acquired the project from Ark Energy.
Aug 2024 The Queensland Government-owned corporation, CS Energy, acquired the project from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP). The Government also announced CIP will oversee construction of the project, with Vestas and Zenviron appointed to lead equipment supply and construction.
