Mackay Ring Road – Stage Two

Mackay Ring Road – Stage Two

Stage Two of the Mackay Ring Road will connect the Bruce Highway at Bald Hill Road, Glenella, north-west of Mackay to Harbour Road near the Port of Mackay via an 8.2-kilometre corridor south of the rail line.

The project includes:

  • a bridge over the Port Rail line.
  • a connection from the Mackay Ring Road to the future Mackay Port Access project
  • an intersection upgrade for the Bruce Highway/Bald Hill Road
  • duplication of the Bruce Highway between Mackay Ring Road and Mackay Northern Access, and
  • duplication of Bruce Highway overpasses.

Dec 2020 The Federal Government Announced $280 million in funding for the project.
Jun 2021 The Queensland Government announced $70 million in funding for the project in its FY2021-22 Budget.
Aug 2022 NRW Holdings was awarded the main works contract for the project.
Nov 2022 Construction commenced on the project.
