Mamre Road Upgrade

The Mamre Road Upgrade will see the 10-kilometre existing road corridor upgraded between between the M4 Motorway, St Clair and Kerrs Road, Kemps Creek.

The upgraded road will have two lanes in each direction, divided by a wide central median. The road will retain capacity to be upgraded to six lanes in future.

The project is proceeding in two stages:

  • Stage One: Widening of 3.8 kilometres of Mamre Road from the M4 Motorway at St Clair to Erskine Park Road, Erskine Park, and
  • Stage Two: Widening of 6.1 kilometres from Erskine Park Road to Kerrs Road, Kemps Creek.

PROJECT HISTORY

Nov 2017 The NSW Government announced it had commenced early planning for future upgrade of the Mamre Road corridor.
Sep 2023 The NSW Government allocated $253.6 million in its 2023-24 Budget to Stage One of the project.
May 2024 The Federal Government allocated $500 million in its 2024-25 Budget to Stage Two of the project.

Mamre Road Upgrade - Stage Two

Stage Two of the Mamre Road Upgrade involves upgrading Mamre Road to a six-lane dual carriageway from Kerrs Road to Erskine Park Road through the Mamre Road Precinct in the Western Sydney Employment Area.

Works include: 

  • road widening to six lanes dual-carriageway (three in each direction)
  • upgrades to two existing intersections at James Erskine Drive and Bakers Lane
  • upgrades to two future intersections at Abbotts Road and Aspect Industrial Estate
  • a shared user path on eastern side of the carriageway, and
  • a footpath on the western side of the carriageway.

May 2024 The 2024-25 Federal Budget committed $500 million towards Mamre Road Upgrade Stage Two.

Mamre Road Upgrade - Stage One

Mamre Road Upgrade - Stage One

Stage One of the Mamre Road Upgrade will see the construction of a four-lane dual-carriageway road, with the potential for further widening to six lanes, over 3.8 kilometres from the M4 Motorway, St Clair to Erskine Park Road, Erskine Park in Western Sydney. 

Works will include:

  • changes to six intersections on Mamre Road
  • a new shared path along the eastern side of Mamre Road
  • reinstating bus stops near Banks Drive with the capacity for additional bus infrastructure in the future
  • changes to property access for Mamre House and Erskine Park Rural Fire Service, and
  • installing permanent noise walls along the eastern side of Mamre Road at St Clair.

Sep 2023 The NSW Government announced $253.6 million over four years to FY2026-27 for the first stage of the project in its 2023-24 Budget.
Oct 2023 Transport for NSW opened a Request for Tender process for the project, closing on 21 December 2023. The tender was for construction services under a 'Construct Only' contract, to be evaluated through a one-stage procurement process.
